ABSTRACT
Well-managed information and documentation are essential for a tourism village to communicate its identity, services, and local products consistently. In Kucur Village, Malang Regency, information about tourism sites, microenterprises, village history, arts and culture, and community activities remained dispersed among different actors and was not yet supported by a media-production workflow that local partners could sustain. This community-engagement program aimed to assist partners in establishing a collaborative digital-documentation workflow through a Living Lab approach. The initial 2026 stage comprised coordination and program socialization, information-needs validation, field observation and documentation, material organization, media-prototype development, and validation planning. The village government, tourism managers, entrepreneurs, community figures, young people, students, and a multidisciplinary university team participated according to their knowledge and roles. The activities produced an initial agreement on documentation needs, a data-collection instrument, a collection of field photographs and videos, documentation of a local coffee-powder enterprise, and a script and production plan for a village-profile video. The mentoring process clarified roles among local information providers, community contacts, data recorders, and media processors. Challenges included data completeness, verification of oral histories, representation of all seven hamlets, consent for visual use, and continuity of archive management. Follow-up work therefore focuses on cross-hamlet validation, archive standardization, training for local content managers, and capacity evaluation. The initial results indicate that a Living Lab can structure digital-documentation assistance, although its effects on partner capacity and tourism performance require evaluation in subsequent stages.
