Wayang is a Javanese cultural heritage that contains high philosophical and spiritual values, but international access to wayang manuscripts is still limited due to language barriers. Existing translation efforts tend to be literal and pay little attention to cultural context, making it difficult to convey the original meaning fully. This community service activity aims to increase the capacity of students, young men and women from studio communities, and cultural volunteers in translating Javanese-English wayang manuscripts using a technology-based approach. The training method is carried out face-to-face for one day (4 hours) through interactive lectures, group discussions, direct practice using online translation machines (Translate.com, Merlin AI, Lingvanex, Glosbe), and validation of translation results with puppeteers or cultural activists. The material covers the basics of translation, strategies for harmonizing cultural terms, and exercises in compiling a mini glossary.
Materi mencakup dasar-dasar penerjemahan, strategi penyelarasan istilah budaya, hingga latihan menyusun glosarium mini.
